No. 39 - Doing Poetical Justice to Your Soul
Plus an interview with Interior Designer Claes Dalén
Dear Reader,
These past few weeks have been intense beyond words work wise, and as someone who has previously experienced burnout, the early warning signs are there. Theoretically, I know the importance of scheduling time for rest, yet I find it so hard to say no to things, even when I know I should. It’s a combination of not wanting to miss out, and not wanting to let people down, but it comes at a high cost for my mental health.
The other day, I stumbled upon this beautiful quote by Albert Camus that hit particularly close to home. I’m making it my mantra for the summer:
“You will never be able to experience everything. So, please, do poetical justice to your soul and simply experience yourself.”
- Albert Camus,
Notebooks, 1935-1951.
Next week I’m going on vacation to Spain with my family and I want nothing more than to be fully present for my boys on their first ever trip abroad. Therefore, I have decided to focus on quality time and recharging my batteries, meaning there will be no newsletter next week. I hope you guys understand, and I look forward to coming back with new energy and inspiration for letter no. 40.
This week however, we have a jam packed newsletter featuring fashion, books, interior design and, our very first male Aesthetically Speaking guest — Interior Designer Claes Dalén. For letter no. 39 he talks about Mid-minimalism - an expression I’ve never heard before, but that perfectly captures the feel of Claes’s serene yet captivating aesthetics.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Love,
Carolina
